An introduction to sustainability education for university lecturers

The PedRIO ‘sustainability education’ module provides a comprehensive introduction to sustainability education with the opportunity for academics to embed new knowledge in disciplinary practice and make changes to what they do. Participants engage with the online learning resources supported by face to face sessions which use the university campus and community as real-life case studies of ESD.

ESD Focus

The course provides a comprehensive introduction to the philosophical underpinnings of sustainability education. It adopts the pedagogic principles of sustainability education so teaches through examples and provides an experience which engages its participants with the university community of practice in this area.

Professional Development Approach

Plymouth University provides academics new to teaching with the opportunity to study sustainability education and to create links to their own disciplinary context.
